WED 121 Reiki I<br />

1 cr. hrs. 1 periods (1 lec.)<br />

Instruction and coaching in the Usui Method of Reiki, Level I. Includes review of concepts presented in WED 120 and a<br />

focus on assessing energy, color healing, the chakras and hand positions used in Reiki. Also includes Reiki attunement,<br />

Reiki I sharing and Reiki I certification.<br />

Prerequisite(s): WED 120.<br />

Information: Applicable as an elective course for the Therapeutic Massage program and as continuing education hours for<br />

health and wellness professionals.<br />

WED 122 Reiki II<br />

1 cr. hrs. 1 periods (1 lec.)<br />

Review of the Usui Method of Reiki, Level I and instruction and coaching in the concepts and techniques of Usui Method of<br />

Reiki, Level II: color healing, chakra balancing, distance healing and healing symbols in Reiki practice. Includes Reiki II<br />

attunement and certification.<br />

Prerequisite(s): WED 120, 121.<br />

WED 121 may be waived with a Reiki I certificate from a qualified Reiki Master. See instructor for details.<br />

WED 131 Body Mechanics for Health Care Providers<br />

Understanding and practice of techniques to prevent and correct injuries associated with the physical demands and<br />

stresses related to health care in residential, outpatient and home facilties, and massage and body work. Includes posture,<br />

body mechanics, and self-care strategies to prevent injuries.<br />

Recommendation: Recommended for wellness and continuing education for health care workers and as additional<br />

elective study for current therapeutic massage students.<br />

WED 132 Stress Management for Health Care Providers<br />

1 cr. hrs. 1 periods (1 lec.)<br />

Introduces basic stress management techniques to prevent and manage stress. Includes development of awareness of<br />

personal stressors, identification of signs and effects of physical and emotional stress, techniques to prevent stress, and<br />

coping techniques to relieve physical and mental/emotional stress. Also includes practical application of stress<br />

management methods.<br />

Interdisciplinary survey and analysis of women’s issues in structured inequalities and globalization. Includes feminist<br />

studies: study of gender, culture, and society; theoretical approaches to gender; learning gender socialization;<br />

contemporary feminist issues: socialization, work, and family; body and health issues; gender issues and intimacy; gender<br />

and the economy; gender, politics, government, and the military; gender, education, creativity, and language; and gender<br />

and spirituality.<br />

WST 201 La Chicana<br />

3 cr. hrs. 3 periods (3 lec.)<br />

Interdisciplinary analysis of Chicanas/Mexicanas status in the United States. Includes interdisciplinary analysis of<br />

Chicanas/Mexicanas in the U.S., Chicana/Mexicana interdisciplinary scholarship and Social Justice Movements, and<br />

Chicana/Mexicana feminism in the Southwest, Chicana/Mexicana community empowerment, and Chicanas/Mexicanas on<br />

the U.S.-Mexico border.<br />
