ECE 125B Nutrition, Health, and Safety for the Young Child: Module B<br />

In-depth study of the health needs of children. Includes children’s needs, caregiver responsibilities, promoting healthy<br />

attitudes, illness prevention, record keeping, promotion of healthy environments, and community resources.<br />

Information:<br />

This course replaces CDA 119.<br />

ECE 125A, 125B, and 125C together constitute ECE 125.<br />

All ECE courses require college-level reading and writing.<br />

Offered: Fall, Spring.<br />

ECE 125C Nutrition, Health, and Safety for the Young Child: Module C<br />

Examination of effective teaching and guidance practices during infant and toddler years. Includes sensory motor<br />

development, development of coordination, object permanence, trial and error interactions, developmentally appropriate<br />

practice, guidance strategies, toilet training, physical settings, and observations and record keeping.<br />

Information:<br />

This course replaces CDA 129, 227, 228, and 235.<br />

ECE 129A and 129B together constitute ECE 129.<br />

All ECE courses require college-level reading and writing.<br />

ECE 129A Infant and Toddler Education: Module A<br />

ECE 190 Early Childhood Education: Theory to Practice<br />

4 cr. hrs. 16 periods (1 lec., 15 lab)<br />

Practical experience in early child care and education. Includes developmentally appropriate practices evaluation<br />

techniques, portfolio development, child advocacy, self-evaluation, observation, assessment, documentation techniques,<br />

and 100 hours of documented work with children birth through age 8.<br />

Prerequisite(s): ECE 240 and the completion of 6 credit hours in one of the following areas: ECE, Elementary<br />

Education, or CDA.<br />

Recommendation: Completion of ECE 200 and one of the following: ECE 108, 110, 112, or 124 before enrolling in this<br />

course.<br />

Information: Consent of instructor or program coordinator before enrolling in this course. A child development course<br />

may be used to substitute for ECE 117. A fingerprint clearance card and TB test are required. A subscription to Task<br />

Stream is required for successful completion of this course. All ECE courses require college-level reading and writing.<br />
