Introduction to the Latin language through reading and composition. Includes present tense, nominative and accusative<br />

cases, and 1st and 2nd declensions, ablative and vocative cases, present infinitives, 3rd declension, commands and<br />

questions, genitive and dative cases, adverbs, and relative pronoun, demonstrative, personal and reflexive pronouns, and<br />

imperfect and perfect tenses, pluperfect tense and 4th and 5th declensions, and topics in ancient Roman history and culture.<br />

LAT 102 Elementary Latin II SUN# LAT 1102<br />

4 cr. hrs. 4 periods (4 lec.)<br />

Continuation of LAT 101. Includes comparison of adjectives and irregular superlatives, present participle, future and future<br />

perfect tenses, and relative clauses, passive voice and perfect passive participle, subjunctive mood, clauses of purpose, and<br />

indirect commands, deponent verbs, ablative absolute, and future participle, and topics in ancient Roman history and culture.<br />

Prerequisite(s): LAT 101.<br />

LEA 101 Law Enforcement Academy Phase I<br />

Basic concepts, techniques, and applications in law enforcement. Includes an introduction to law enforcement, ethics and<br />

leadership, law and legal matters, multicultural issues, and community and police relations. Also includes standards<br />

required of law enforcement personnel and the functions and responsibilities of the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and<br />

Training Board (Az POST).<br />

Admission to the Law Enforcement Academy or consent of the Law Enforcement Coordinator is required before enrolling<br />

in this course.<br />

Overview of the components of the criminal justice system, their functions, responsibilities and interrelationships. Includes<br />

a historical perspective, an outline of regulatory agency functions, responsibilities, jurisdictional limitations, techniques of<br />

management and supervision, problem solving strategies, and the relationship between employee and supervisor. Also<br />

includes standards required of law enforcement personnel and the functions and responsibilities of the Arizona Peace<br />

Officer Standards and Training Board (Az POST).<br />

LEA 103 LEA Ethics and Leadership<br />

Principles of ethical behavior for law enforcement professionals. Includes establishing a leadership role within the<br />

community. Also includes the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics, and the Canons of Police Ethics as a basis to establish trust<br />

and protect a positive image of law enforcement.<br />
