Degrees and Certificates<br />

the current educational programs are listed below with the<br />

name of the degree or certificate, the award type, the program<br />

code, the major code, and any concentration codes<br />

associated with the program. these codes identify the student's<br />

program of study in their student record and in<br />

myDegreePlan. if a student is uncertain about which codes<br />

to use or for information on programs without program<br />

codes, please see an advisor or counselor.<br />

there is an additional column entitled lead Campus in the<br />

occupational Program list. the lead campus is the only<br />

campus to offer all courses required for the certificate or<br />

degree. other campuses may offer introductory course(s)<br />

for the certificate or degree. Check the schedule of Classes<br />

for the courses offered on each campus or see an advisor<br />

or counselor.<br />

although the transfer Programs do not have a lead campus,<br />

transfer program’s core/major courses and some<br />

general education courses may not be offered on every<br />

campus. Check the schedule of Classes or see an advisor<br />

or counselor.<br />

the definitions of the abbreviations in the award column<br />

are:<br />

AA Associate of Arts<br />

an associate of arts is a credit degree of 60-64<br />

credits for transfer to a college or university into<br />

majors related to arts, humanities, social and<br />

behavioral science, and education. the aa<br />

includes an arizona general Education Curriculum<br />

(agEC)-a. see general Education requirements<br />

for transfer Program section for more information<br />

on agEC.<br />

ABUS Associate of Business Administration<br />

an associate of Business administration is a credit<br />

degree of 60-64 credits for transfer to a college or<br />

university into a business or business-related<br />

major. the aBus includes an arizona general<br />

Education Curriculum (agEC)-B. see the general<br />

Education requirements for transfer Programs<br />

section for more information on agEC.<br />

AS Associate of Science<br />

an associate of science is a credit degree of 60-64<br />

credits for transfer to a college or university into a<br />

science or science-related major. the as includes<br />

AAA Associate of Applied Arts<br />

an associate of applied arts is a credit degree of<br />

60-72 credits for direct employment into jobs<br />

requiring some art-related skills and competencies.<br />

AAS Associate of Applied Science<br />

an associate of applied science is a credit degree<br />

of 60-72 credits for direct employment into jobs<br />

requiring skills and competencies in the technologies,<br />

business, government and public service,<br />

and health-related professions.<br />

AFA Associate of Fine Arts<br />

an associate of fine arts is a credit degree of 60-<br />

64 credits for transfer to a college or university<br />

into majors related to fine arts. the afa includes<br />

an arizona general Education Curriculum agEC-a.<br />

AGS Associate of General Studies<br />

an associate of general studies is a credit degree<br />

of 60-72 credits designed by the student. if planning<br />

to seek employment or to transfer, the<br />

student should develop a plan of study with an<br />

advisor or counselor.<br />

CERT Certificate<br />

a Certificate is a credit certificate in a specific field<br />

of study of less than 60 credits for direct employment<br />

into a job or for transfer to a college or<br />

university.<br />

CERA Post-Degree Certificate<br />

a Post-Degree Certificate is a credit certificate in a<br />

specific field of study of less than 60 credits for<br />

direct employment into a job. an associate’s<br />

Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree (depending on the<br />

program) is required before beginning a Post-<br />

Degree Certificate. see program display for<br />

specific requirements.<br />

CTD Certificate of Completion<br />

a Certificate of Completion is a non-credit certificate<br />

in a specific field of study for direct employment<br />

into a job. the program is a clock-hour program<br />

rather than a credit program, only offered at the<br />

Center for training and Development located at<br />

the Desert Vista Campus.<br />

• general studies Programs (ags)<br />
