Overview, techniques, and skills for environmental emergencies. Includes the following environmental emergency topics:<br />

environmental illnesses, risk factors, general and specific system pathophysiology, assessment, heat and cold, neardrowning,<br />

diving, and current environmental emergency trends.<br />

physiological adaptations at birth, neonate assessment and management, distressed newborn resuscitation,<br />

postresuscitation care, neonatal transport, and neonatal specific situations. Also includes common birth injuries and trends<br />

in neonatal emergencies.<br />

EMT 140 Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support<br />

Concepts and techniques for evaluating assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implementation of a field<br />

treatment plan for a trauma patient. Includes systemic approach to patient assessment and management, airway and<br />

ventilation management, shock, soft tissue and burn injuries, isolated and multi-systems trauma, and various types of<br />

trauma patients.<br />

EMT 141 Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Refresher<br />

1.5 cr. hrs. 2 periods (1 lec., 1 lab)<br />

Concepts and scenario-based techniques for evaluating assessment findings to formulate a field impression and<br />

implementation of a field treatment plan for a trauma patient. Includes a systemic approach to patient assessment and<br />

management, airway and ventilation management, shock, soft tissue and burn injuries, isolated and multi-systems<br />

trauma, and various types of trauma patients.<br />

EMT 142 Advanced Medical Life Support Instructor<br />

1 cr. hrs. 1 periods (1 lec.)<br />

A review of the Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) Provider and Refresher course. Concepts, techniques, and support<br />

materials to provide AMLS instructor-candidates with skills necessary to conduct and participate as faculty in an approved<br />

AMLS course. Includes the styles of adult learners, suggestions on maximizing the learning experience of participants, and<br />

the administration components of the AMLS courses.<br />

Information: The AMLS instructor course is designed for students who have achieved instructor-candidate potential when<br />

successfully completing an AMLS provider or refresher course. The student must hold an advanced healthcare provider<br />

status and have experience teaching at the advanced practitioner level.<br />
