EIGHT DIGIT DRIVER<br />

These circuits are monolithic bipolar chips<br />

which contain all the electronics required to<br />

provide the necessary digit strobe drive interface<br />

between the G.!. C550 and C540 series <strong>of</strong><br />

single MOS calculator chips for LED displays.<br />

Designed in bipolar, the circuits are designed<br />

to run <strong>of</strong>f two supply rails, i.e. the MOS supply<br />

rail, VDD <strong>of</strong> nominally -i5V and a second battery<br />

supply rail <strong>of</strong> between -3.6 'and -6.0V.<br />

A feature <strong>of</strong> the circuit arrangement is that<br />

the input current is constant regardless <strong>of</strong> the<br />

supply voltages over the specified range. The<br />

main features <strong>of</strong> the design is in the very low<br />

power dissipation which is typically only 3.3mW<br />

per package total both supplies and the inclusion<br />

<strong>of</strong> built in on chip pull down resistors.<br />

The circuits are designed for use witli the<br />

<strong>ITT</strong>7i03 series <strong>of</strong> LED segment drivers to<br />

provide a complete LED monolithic interface<br />

system between the G.!. C550-554 series <strong>of</strong><br />

single MOS calculator chips and LED displays.<br />
