Nearly each higher art school in Europe has on its curriculumart history and theory lectures which widely cover the specific features of theart in the totalitarian states and its influence on the world culture development.The research of the art processes of the totalitarian epoch has become possiblein Ukraine since a certain time distance of the independent state existence.Only today there have appeared the real possibilities for objective estimate of allchanges taken place in the art environment of the Soviet times. The special attentionis given to the thorough investigation of the radical turn of 1930 induced bythe forced introduction of the social realism method and elimination of all artorganizations and creative tendencies. The wartime seems to be the special onefrom the point of view of the revaluation — the ruling clique changed for a shortperiod their attitude to the intellectuals and creators. The disclosure of the postwarhistory facts casts light on the painter’s actions and the art product whichused to be created during that period up to the well-known XX Congress ofC.P.S. U. The very understanding of the importance of 1930–50 periods made theauthor to write and publicize his investigation.The research trend was chosen according to the government scientific programsaimed at providing objective history of the Ukrainian culture and in linewith study «The Distinctive Features of the Art Processes in Ukraine in 1930–1950» of the Contemporary Art Institute of he Ukrainian Academy of Arts (protocol#12/1-R of 24.02.04)The research objective lies in the study of the number of facts of the changesin the Ukrainian fine arts and their development at the first stage of the Soviettotalitarian regime.The following tasks aimed at reaching the target:– to specify the art environment in Ukraine before the totalitarian period;– to analyze social and political changes of 1930 that caused «the new» waysof the art and architecture development in the Soviet Ukraine;– to outline the influence of the social and political background on the artprocesses by analyzing the most distinctive art works of some artists;– to determine the tendency of one-vector dialogues «audience-painter»and «critic-painter» governed by the authorities;– to show the impact of the cruel ideological pressing on the consciousthinking of the creators;574
