Founded in 1555 by Sir John Gresham, the school is located in
the historic Georgian market town of Holt near the north
Norfolk coast; an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and
World Heritage site. The school is easily accessible by road
with intercity rail and international air connections at
Norwich, 40 minutes away. Our warm community, committed
staff, wide range of opportunities, outstanding facilities and
rural environment, combine to provide a unique educational
experience. Gresham’s is primarily a full boarding school with
all the associated benefits of academic and sporting
excellence in addition to a wide range of extracurricular
activities.
Our alumni have made significant contributions to human

communication; hovercraft inventor Sir Christopher

wholeheartedly involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Scheme from its beginning, we have a well supported
Combined Cadet Force and a strong and varied programme of
both individual and team sports, which allow students to
engage in a healthy and active lifestyle. Visual and performing
arts are particularly well resourced and students have a wide
range of opportunities to express their creativity.
We offer the following IB subjects at higher and standard
level: English A: literature, English A: language & literature,
German A: language & literature; French B, German B, Latin,
Mandarin ab initio SL, Spanish B; business & management,
economics, geography, history, psychology; biology,
chemistry, physics, environmental systems & societies SL;
music, theatre arts, visual arts; mathematics, maths studies. A
one year pre-IB course is available to students who require an
accelerated learning environment before entering the IB
Diploma Programme. Our academic results are outstanding.
Our IB diploma graduates consistently average 34 points and
100% of our diploma graduates go onto further education.
