The Cheltenham Ladies’ College is an international
community that draws girls from countries around the world.
This means that girls will be able to learn about and
appreciate their fellow students’ societies, communities,
literature and values – a key component of the IB. Results are
excellent; 85% achieve 38 points or more, which ranks the
college in the very top tier of IB schools in the UK. In 2011 one
student secured 45 points, placing her in the highest 0.1% of
IB students worldwide.
The atmosphere at the Cheltenham Ladies’ College is one of
lively purposefulness. Beautiful architecture houses academic
lessons that foster curiosity and an overall learning experience
that is tailored to meet your individual needs. Girls value the
support, advice and encouragement that they receive from
teachers and high standards are achieved. Virtually every girl
goes on to higher education to an impressive range of
universities both in the UK and America. A large and
successful alumnae association of over 7500 former pupils
keep in contact and offer work placements and careers advice
to girls. The brand new Parabola Arts Centre provides a
spectacular space for performing arts with a purpose-built 250
seat auditorium, dance studio and dedicated exhibition
space. Life outside the classroom is full of diverse
opportunities with more than 30 different sports on offer and
over 80 different clubs and societies.
There are 860 students aged 11-18, with 2 ⁄3 boarding and 1 ⁄3
day. College girls say that they feel well-known and cared for.
They regard their boarding houses as a home from home, and
day girls are fully integrated into all activities. A sense of
teamwork is fostered by the many house events and outings
that take place each term. The housemistress or housemaster
is a point of contact for girls, parents and tutors supported by
several house staff. Girls move into separate houses for sixth
form – an excellent stepping stone for student life.
Entry for sixth form is via college entrance examinations in
November and February each year. Over 20 academic, music,
art or sport scholarships and other awards are made annually.
