The British School of Houston is a private, pre-kindergarden-<br />

12th grade school located in northwest Houston. With a<br />

diverse student population, extensive extracurricular<br />

activities, and an internationally-accredited curriculum, the<br />

school offers a challenging, broad course of study that<br />

culminates with the International Baccalaureate Diploma<br />

Programme. There are almost 600 students from over 40<br />

nationalities, 45% of whom are British, aged from 3 to 19<br />

years. The school offers an early years programme, based on<br />

the UK model, the International Primary Curriculum, the<br />

National Curriculum for England and Wales and students<br />

complete an International Baccalaureate diploma in KS 5.<br />

It is an inclusive school, accepting students of all abilities.<br />

Children love being involved in their own learning with<br />

inspirational teachers who use the best techniques to develop<br />

truly innovative and independent global citizens, eager to<br />

continue their passion for lifelong learning. The holistic<br />

The average <strong>IB</strong> diploma point score achieved by students is<br />

over 35 points, placing the average student in the top 25% of<br />

• 20% achieved a score of 40 plus points<br />

• 40% achieved a score of over 35 points<br />

• 85% achieved, or significantly exceeded, the <strong>IB</strong> world<br />

average of 30 points.<br />

In 2011, the school also celebrated the achievement of its<br />

first bilingual diploma in French and English, and now offers a<br />

wide variety of languages in the diploma including Spanish,<br />

French, Dutch, German, Italian, Norwegian, Russian, Arabic,<br />

Japanese and Mandarin.<br />

For university entry in fall 2011, British School of Houston<br />

students have secured places in top universities in both the US<br />

and the UK. Students have gained places on the highly<br />

competitive Liberal Arts Honors Program at the University of<br />

Texas, University of Edinburgh, University of Kings College,<br />

London, University of Manchester and University of Bath<br />

among many others.<br />

The school’s 14 acre campus is located west of downtown<br />

Houston, with easy access from main thoroughfares. The school<br />

is part of the <strong>World</strong> Class Learning Group, a British company<br />

that also operates Fieldwork Education, Compass International<br />

Schools and has sister schools in New York, Washington DC,<br />

Charlotte, Chicago, Boston and Madrid, Spain.
