‘The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.’ African
proverb
Founded in Lima on 18th January 1950, the Peruvian North
American Abraham Lincoln School emerged as the result of a
group of parents interested in providing bilingual education
to their children while actively participating in the school
management. We understand education as a process in which
the whole school community must be involved: students,
teachers, parents and staff members in general.
Over 1200 students from nursery to grade 11, learn and
develop in a challenging, inclusive and nurturing bilingual
and multicultural environment. We have been inspiring
learning among our community since 1950 and are committed
to meeting the challenges of this era of knowledge and thus
prepare our students to become active, creative and
responsible citizens.
In many different ways, we, educators around the globe,
face the challenge of taking education truly into the 21st
century, which means that we ought to reinvent our schools
for the sake of our children, our students, and the welfare of
our world (see Scott McLeod, Dangerously Irrelevant). Both
research and best practice make it evident that we need to
change our concepts regarding schools, curriculum, learning
and teaching in an ever changing world and an increasingly
demanding society that presents vast opportunities as well as
new problems. Thus, we encourage the development of skills
related to critical thinking, problem solving, effective
communication, creativity, collaboration, innovation, and
adaptability to change.
We meet both Peruvian and international standards and
offer our students a rich, motivationally, educational
experience based on the three IB programmes (PYP, MYP and
DP), focused on the development of the whole child. Our
curriculum balances and articulates the academics and a wide
ranging sports, arts and activities program.
Abraham Lincoln School reflects a community where
teachers and parents work collaboratively to cater for the
needs of the next generation innovatively.
