The Awty International School is a non-profit private PK-12
school with an excellent reputation, located in Houston – the
fourth largest city in the US. Its students have backgrounds
from almost 60 countries in all parts of the world, and it is now
the second largest international school in the United States.
Awty has been successfully teaching the IB Diploma
Programme since January 1987.
Awty offers a truly unique environment that challenges and
inspires all of its students to fulfill their potential through a
solid educational program leading to either the IB or French
Baccalauréat diploma. Students in both programs must meet
the requirements for an American high school diploma, which
includes credits in fine arts, computer science and American
history.

activities include the student newspaper, orchestra, Model
United Nations, interscholastic athletics and student
government, among many others. The IB Diploma Programme
at The Awty International School consistently records excellent
results.
In classes with small sizes, the Awty curriculum gives full
attention to all areas of the IB hexagon. Group 1 and 2
languages are taught by native speakers. Among the available
languages offered at various levels are: Arabic, Chinese,
Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Norwegian,
Portuguese and Spanish. All students must take two
languages and may study a third if desired.
Group 3 allows students to select economics, history or
psychology. In Group 4 students may choose among four
sciences: biology, chemistry, physics and environmental
systems and societies. In Group 5 mathematics is offered at
three levels. In Group 6, electives include visual arts, theatre
arts and music, or alternatively a second humanities or
science, or a third language. All the other requirements for the
IB diploma, such as theory of knowledge, the extended essay
and CAS (creativity, action, service) are also addressed with
the same high level of instruction and guidance.
