The IB Americas includes IB World Schools in 30
countries and territories in Central, North and South
America. IB World Schools in the Americas are
state/public, private, magnet, charter, international,
parochial and secular and serve a broad and diverse range
of students in urban, suburban and rural communities.
As of September 2011, there are 443 schools providing
Primary Years Programmes in 16 countries, 656 schools
providing the Middle Years Programme in 16 countries
and 1190 schools provide the Diploma Programme in
28 countries. The Bethesda, Buenos Aires and
Vancouver offices provide support services to
authorized, candidate and interested schools in:

Some Recent Initiatives
IB Continuum
The IB continues to deepen its relationship with school
districts and other networks of schools, as they strive
to make IB programmes available to more students.
Over 75 districts have, or soon will have, created
pathways that allow students to be in IB programmes
from their first day of primary school to their last day
of secondary school. This belief in the IB continuum,
the sequence of PYP, MYP and Diploma Programmes,
is even more manifest at a dozen districts that are in
the process of becoming ‘all IB’. In these districts, not
only are IB programmes available from PreK-12, but
every school in the district is adopting the IB.
The IBCC
Another exciting development in the drive to provide
greater access to IB programmes is the debut of the IB
Career-related Certificate (IBCC) as a general offering
for IB schools. IBCC combines some of the best
features of the IB Diploma Programme with proven
career and technical education programs to provide
students with a well-rounded education.
