Cranbrook School is an independent, non-selective school in
the eastern suburbs of Sydney and has been educating boys
for over 90 years.
The junior school is an International Baccalaureate World
School, authorised to teach the organisation’s Primary Years
Programme. The junior school aims to provide an educational
environment that will provide optimum learning
opportunities for each student, and to promote selfconfidence
and an ongoing enthusiasm for learning in its
students. Each student is encouraged to:
• strive towards achieving his potential in many fields of
endeavour;
• develop intellectually; and
• develop a consideration of others and a sense of
independence and responsibility.
The vision for, and the direction of, Kindergarten to Year 6
are the responsibility of the Head of junior school and the
junior school leadership team: deputy head of junior school,
director of early learning, PYP curriculum coordinator and
senior teacher (K-2). The curriculum broadly follows that laid
down for primary schools by the New South Wales Board of
Studies and is taught within the context of the International
Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.
2012 sees the completion of the new K-6 junior school site in
beautiful Rose Bay. The new facility has been designed with
inquiry learning principles in mind, complementing well the
teaching of the Primary Years Programme in an exciting,
future-focused and purpose-built facility, set amongst the
School’s Dangar Playing Fields.
