About
Ritsumeikan Uji Junior and Senior High School is located in
Uji City, south of Kyoto in central Japan. The school is
coeducational and offers an integrated six-year curriculum.
Ritsumeikan Uji High School was established in 1994 as an
affiliated school of Ritsumeikan University, one of the largest
and most prestigious universities in Japan. The school was
rebuilt in its current location in 2002 and established a junior
high school in 2003.
IB Diploma Programme
Ritsumeikan Uji has been offering international education
programs since 2000. In 2009 the school was authorized as an
IB World School, and is the first Japanese (non-international)
school in Kansai to offer the IBDP. A successful graduate of
our program will be the holder of a dual degree; they will
possess both an IB diploma and a Japanese High School
Graduation Certificate. Therefore they will be well-positioned
to gain admission to top colleges and universities around the
world as well as to maximize their future career options.
resources, including four science labs, multilingual library,
media labs, and observatory, as well as a wealth of events,
including culture day, sports day, astronomy night, the annual
art festival, and the Model United Nations. In addition, the
school supports IBDP students to travel to overseas student
conferences, and hosts an annual International Student Forum
on campus that draws students from around the world to
Kyoto. IBDP students benefit from small class sizes and a
highly dedicated staff, and are offered a range of course
options so that they can spend more time on areas of particular
interest and begin to prepare for their university of choice.
Goals
IBDP education at Ritsumeikan Uji builds on over a decade
of experience in international education, in order to offer a
unique education that is focused on the twin goals of
preparing students to succeed in the increasingly competitive
global education and labour markets and to be responsible
participants in 21st century international community. We are
strongly committed to both the academic and personal
development of our students, and reflect this commitment in
everything that we do.
