With the introduction of the International Baccalaureate
Diploma Programme in 2011, Kambala became the first
private girls’ school in Sydney’s prestigious Eastern Suburbs to
offer the IB. The IB is a perfect fit with Kambala’s educational
philosophy of developing learners of all ages who collaborate,
investigate, explore, inquire, create and think deeply.
Kambala’s large lawn and courtyard areas, grassy oval and
tennis courts, are situated against the panoramic backdrop of
Sydney Harbour. Other facilities include flexible learning
spaces, an indoor swimming pool and excellent specialist
learning areas for music, visual arts, science and various
technological subjects.
Kambala has long enjoyed a reputation for consistently
outstanding academic excellence. As a non-selective school,
this record is a testament to the expertise of the staff and to
the students’ engagement and commitment in all subjects
and year levels. The 1-1 student laptop program is continually
re-evaluated to incorporate the most up-to-date quality
devices and software in the girls’ learning experiences.
Kambala’s academic success is complemented by its broad
cultural extracurricular program and focus on charity that
Kambala boarding houses provide a nurturing and
supportive communal family environment for over 100 girls.
Years 7 to 10 boarders occupy the beautiful heritage-listed
Tivoli building while Year 11 and 12 boarders enjoy the greater
privacy, independence and social privileges of purpose-built
Fernbank. To assist boarders to structure their time in a
positive way and to develop and maintain productive study
habits, Kambala employs in-house tutors to work with girls on
homework each evening. Internet social media enables
distant parents to have greater personal involvement with
their daughter’s learning, including three-way Skype
interviews with the student and her teachers. The shared
experience of boarding creates a strong network of friends and
a feeling of community that lasts for life.
Some tuition scholarships are available.
