EABJM is a non-profit pre-K-12 coeducational college and
preparatory school founded in 1954 with the mission to
develop international understanding through bilingual
(French/English) education.
Today, EABJM has become the largest non-denominational
independent school in France, with 2900 students representing
66 nationalities and every major cultural tradition.
EABJM is recognized by UNESCO as an ‘associated’ school.
The school’s academic excellence matches its diversity: EABJM is
regularly ranked among the top five of all 121 Paris high schools
(public and independent) for its overall academic performance.
Each year, EABJM welcomes more than 100 new non-French
speaking students who enroll in ‘adaptation classes’ where
they follow a French immersion programme.
THE LOWER AND MIDDLE SCHOOL follow the national
curriculum with several exceptions: English is taught every day
and, in middle school sciences, history and geography are
taught in English. The curriculum is enriched at all levels, not
only with a more advanced English language and literature
curriculum, but also, for example, with Chinese language
instruction (compulsory in grades 3-4-5), an integrated
science programme in Lower School, and independent
research projects in middle school.
As of 10th grade the EABJM offers an international
programme, which leads to the preparation of the IB diploma.
In 11th grade, students choose between the standard French
Baccalaureate, the French OIB (International Option within
the French Baccalaureate) and the IB Diploma Programme.
The IB Diploma Programme is not subsidized and tuition is
more than twice the French curriculum tuition.
Out of the last three EABJM Paris graduating classes (566
students), 27 percent took the IB, 60 percent opted for the
French OI Baccalaureate, and the remaining 13% sat the
standard French Baccalaureate without ‘Option
internationale’. Most students applying to US colleges chose
either the IB or the French OI Baccalaureate.
Over the past three years, 65 per cent of our EABJM Paris
graduates decided to pursue higher education abroad and
35% remained in France. Among those leaving France 22%
chose US colleges or universities, 26% went to the UK, 13%
opted for Canada, and 4% pursued their higher education all
over the world.
Admission
Although applications typically exceed available spaces by a
ratio of 4:1, every effort is made to reserve space for
international applicants, including children of families who
expect to remain in France for a limited period of time and
wish to combine a cultural immersion in French education
with the ability to re-enter their own school systems and excel.
