St. George’s School, the first British international school in<br />

Switzerland, was founded in 1927. With the motto Levavi Oculos<br />

the school offers an open-minded education both in and out<br />

of the classroom. The school provides a ‘Home away from<br />

Home’ to approximately 60 boarders and 400 day students<br />

from 48 different nationalities. Nestled between the Alps and<br />

Lake Geneva, the school includes tennis courts, sports hall<br />

and opened landscaped grounds.<br />

During winter students ski and in the summer they make<br />

use of the lake, surrounding countryside and local sports<br />

facilities.<br />

The school was recently renovated and extended with new<br />

science laboratories designed especially for the <strong>IB</strong> curriculum.<br />

The language of instruction is English.<br />

The curriculum contains the following subject groups:<br />

Groups 1 & 2: Languages<br />

Students usually select from English and French. Spanish<br />

and German are also possible, subject to availability. Mother<br />

tongue is also available.<br />

Group 3: Individuals and Society<br />

• Economics<br />

• Geography<br />

• History<br />

Group 4: Experimental Sciences<br />

• Biology<br />

• Chemistry<br />

• Physics<br />

Group 5: Mathematics<br />

At St. George’s we offer maths to higher and standard level<br />

as well as maths studies.<br />

Group 6: Art (or elective subject)<br />

Students can follow courses in either visual arts or music.<br />

Alternatively students may follow a second subject possibly<br />

chosen from groups 2, 3 or 4.<br />
