Colegio Bilingüe Madison Chihuahua is part of the Madison
Group of Schools that work in the different Mexican cities of
Monterrey, Torreon, Veracruz and Chihuahua. Chihuahua, a
modern city of one million inhabitants in the northern part of
Mexico, bases its economy mainly in agriculture, cattle and
twin/assembly plants.
Colegio Bilingüe Madison Chihuahua was founded in 1999
in order to offer our mainly conservative community an
international school for their children (3 to 15 years old) with
programmes that prepare them with a global awareness and
helps them face the 21st century. From the beginning, some of
the founders were aware and enthusiastic about the PYP and
MYP.
Even before the school achieved authorization to offer the
PYP, in 2003, we adopted and identified with the IB
philosophy. We have recently started working towards
obtaining authorization to offer the MYP. Two of our staff
members are PYP leaders.
Although our school is Catholic, students from different
religions or with no religion are very welcome. Mexico has a
population of 110 million and, except for its capital, Mexico
City, there are usually not many students from other countries
in our other cities. At present we have some students from
Germany, Spain and the United States. In the past, we have
had students from Argentina, India and Japan.
One of the strengths of the Madison Group of Schools is a
Foreign Teachers Programme that enhances the international
mentality of students, teachers, parents and staff. For the last
eleven years, we have had instructors from Canada, China,
Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, England, Ireland,
Lebanon, Scotland, Poland and the United States teaching in
our schools.
Students and graduates from our school are well appreciated
by the community and by the preparatory schools they attend.
This has set a standard for those private schools that were
inclined towards a more traditional approach. Our well
articulated, inquisitive, mature and responsible graduates and
students have already made a difference in Mexico.
Colegio Bilingüe Madison Chihuahua has official
recognition from the SEP (Secretaría de Educación Pública)
and is also a member of the FEP (Federación de Escuelas
Particulares).
