Regional tasks<br />

The range of services offered by the <strong>IB</strong> Africa, Europe<br />

• Regional conferences<br />

• Evaluations of a school’s <strong>IB</strong> programmes<br />

• Consultation on student assessment procedures<br />

• Monitoring and assisting with the implementation<br />

of creativity, action, service (CAS) projects.<br />

For universities<br />

• The philosophy, structure and requirements of<br />

the DP<br />

• The content and requirements of DP courses.<br />

For governments<br />

• Advice on how to integrate <strong>IB</strong> programmes into<br />

state educational systems<br />

• Consultation regarding recognition of the <strong>IB</strong><br />

diploma<br />

• Authorization and evaluation processes of <strong>IB</strong><br />

<strong>World</strong> Schools, professional development of<br />

teachers and administrators for <strong>IB</strong> <strong>World</strong> Schools,<br />

recognition of the <strong>IB</strong> programmes by universities<br />

and national authorities, and promotion. The<br />

regional office also endeavours to anticipate and<br />

meet the future needs of our <strong>IB</strong> <strong>World</strong> schools and<br />

advocates for the needs of <strong>IB</strong> schools within the <strong>IB</strong>.<br />

The <strong>IB</strong> Africa, Europe and Middle East regional office<br />

serves 850 schools located in 82 countries and offers<br />

1088 programmes in total.<br />

Associations of <strong>IB</strong> <strong>World</strong> Schools in Africa,<br />

Europe and Middle East<br />

Many <strong>IB</strong> <strong>World</strong> Schools have chosen to form local<br />

associations with other <strong>IB</strong> <strong>World</strong> Schools at a national<br />

or sub-regional level. These non-profit associations<br />

provide a forum for school collaboration, informal<br />

gatherings and the exchange of good practice.<br />

Associations are often active in negotiating university<br />

and government recognition for <strong>IB</strong> programmes and<br />

can be an indispensable resource for schools<br />

discovering the <strong>IB</strong> for the first time. There are formal<br />

and/or informal associations for <strong>IB</strong> schools in the<br />

following countries.<br />
