PLC PERTH, a Uniting Church school founded in 1915, has an
international reputation for academic excellence and success
in preparing young women to lead active, purposeful lives.
We are a Pre-K to Year 12 independent day and boarding
school for girls and enrol students from urban, rural and
regional areas of Western Australia, from interstate and
overseas. Students come from a diverse range of cultural
backgrounds, with 20 nationalities being represented. Entry is
non-selective.
The school is conveniently located in the leafy residential
area of Peppermint Grove, by the river and close to beaches,
and only 20 minutes by car or train from the cities of Perth and
Fremantle.
Our school is a warm, vibrant community, well-known for its
pastoral care and extensive co-curricular programme. It is
firmly committed to issues of social justice, reconciliation and
civic engagement. An enduring legacy of values includes
commitment, responsibility, respect for others, integrity,
engagement and independence.
The majority of our students gain entrance into universities
across Australia and overseas with graduating students
consistently excelling across a wide range of subjects in the
Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE)
examinations.
PLC is an authorized IB World School for the Primary Years
Programme (Pre-K to Year 5), Middle Years Programme (Years
6 to 10) and the IB Diploma Programme, which was introduced
in 2010 as an option for Years 11 and 12 alongside the WACE
curriculum.
IB diploma subjects offered are English A, French B, Spanish
ab initio, chemistry, physics, biology, theatre, visual arts,
mathematics standard and higher level, mathematical
studies, economics and history.
An innovative, challenging curriculum fosters personal
excellence. All students in Years 5 to 12 have their own laptop
on a fully ‘wirelessed’ campus. Our teachers are committed
professionals who model the concept of lifelong learning.
The PLC boarding house is a comfortable and secure homeaway-from-home
where 120 boarders are cared for and
supported by experienced residential staff.
PLC’s facilities are extensive and well-equipped. Facilities
include a drama centre, chapel, an extensive music
department, library resource centre, technology centre and
help desk, cafeteria and health centre.
In 2011, a new swim and recreation centre opened to
complement other PLC sporting facilities, including a rowing
centre, indoor sports centre (with basketball, volleyball and
badminton courts), hockey oval, tennis and netball courts.
