Concept: Competitive capacity in the world market of
educational services.
‘Miras’ International School in Almaty was founded in 1999
by the Nursultan Nazarbayev Educational Foundation to
connect Kazakhstan with global education. Today Miras is one
the four schools in the Commonwealth of Independent States,
authorised to offer all three programmes: Primary Years
Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and
Diploma Programme (DP).
At present the school is accredited by the European Council
of International Schools (ECIS), the Council of International
Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and
Colleges (NEASC). Miras is also a member of UNESCO
associated schools.
The school is an educational institution, in which 600
students, aged from 3 to 18, get a high-quality education.
Representatives of 18 nationalities from 21 countries of the
world study at the school. The teaching staff consists of 100
teachers including 26 overseas specialists. The diversity in our
faculty ensures the best pedagogy from around the world as
well as creating and maintaining internationalism at the
school. So, we could say that we live and work under the
motto: ‘Our Unity is in Our Diversity.’
Miras International School, Almaty, integrates
International Baccalaureate standards and practices with the
best elements of the Kazakhstani educational programme to
offer students a quality education in a choice of three
languages. We, the staff and students, here at Miras are
proud of our success. Graduates of Miras’ IB Diploma
Programme have continued their education in a variety of
universities worldwide including some of the most
prestigious such as Oxford, Harvard and Cambridge. The
school’s greater purpose is to equip students to lead
constructive and fulfilling lives, to appreciate and respect a
diverse range of cultures and to have a sense of service and
responsibility to the world community.
