available access to information via technology, what will the
purpose of schools be in the future? Now more than ever, we
must engage with the future of schools. What is it that
students need from school that is not readily available via the
internet or an online course from an overseas university or
social media? They want real time high-energy engagement.
They need real-life high relevance experiences.
Leadership...
Our challenge is how to prepare our girls for leadership in a
changing environment. To do so we must analyse the major
global trends reshaping future directions and be ready to take
a radical jump. Despite the ever-changing world we live in,
with rapid developments in technology and globalisation, the
character attributes of leadership are timeless. Leaders make
good things happen and their actions multiply possibilities
for others. Integrity is uppermost and is one of MLC School’s
inherent values.
The MLC School Results Statistics 2002 – 2010
In the 2010 November examinations, four perfect scores (45)
were achieved from the 36 candidates; 20 candidates scored
40 or above.
The average MLC School IB diploma score is 36 converting to
a UAC rank (or ATAR equivalent) of 94.15.
Thirteen students have scored maximum points, a ‘perfect’
IB diploma score, of 45.
32% of MLC School IB diploma candidates have scored a
University Admissions Centre (UAC) rank or Australian
Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) equivalent of 99.0+.
82% of IB diploma candidates have scored a UAC rank or
ATAR equivalent of 90.0+.
Not surprisingly the growth and reputation of the IB
diploma at MLC School, in fact Australia-wide, has resulted in
its popular acceptance. MLC has graduated 185 IB diploma
candidates with another 72 girls enrolled currently. About
30% of MLC girls now choose this alternative curriculum.
Remarkably MLC School has had two former students awarded
consecutively (2007 and 2008) as Rhodes Scholars, perhaps the
world’s most prestigious international graduate scholarship.
Their opportunity for post-graduate study at the University of
Oxford was awarded for scholastic attainment, breadth of talent,
social contribution to those in need and instinctive leadership.
