Mission Statement
St Francis College is an international school that strives for
excellence and provides the solid foundation for passionate
lifelong learning.
We empower pupils within a warm and friendly community
to become proactive and responsible citizens of the world by
fostering moral and intellectual autonomy.
Curriculum
The international curriculum offered is taught in English. An
important element in the curriculum is the Portuguese
language subjects, which include Brazilian literature,
Portuguese language as well as the history and geography of
Brazil. A broad approach of concept based learning will also
encompass the humanities, arts, sciences, mathematics, and
information technology. The formal curriculum is guided by the
Brazilian and British National Curriculum and the three IB
programmes. The college provides pupils with academic
challenge and key life skills in a flexible and transdisciplinary
programme. Throughout the primary school we offer the IB
Primary Years Programme and in the secondary school we offer
the IB Middle Years Programme and the IB Diploma Programme
in the last two years. IGCSE exams are also offered in the main
subjects in Year 10. Pupils will conclude their secondary
education having also obtained their Brazilian studies diploma.

campus offers varied facilities such as: all-purpose covered
courts, theatre, music rooms, air conditioned classrooms,
interactive Whiteboards, science laboratories, computer
laboratories, libraries, play areas, and swimming pool (Jardins
only).
Extracurricular activities
The extracurricular activities offered include football,
basketball, volleyball, swimming, ballet, skateboarding, judo,
cooking, drama, music and arts.
Entry Requirements
Due to the international nature of the school, children are
accepted at different times during the year. Evaluations and
interviews are held before acceptance. Previous school reports
and IGCSE results, if applicable, are taken into account.
However, the school will give the needed support in English
to those international children who might need it. Entrance
from the primary school into the secondary school is
automatic.
