THE VICTORIA SCHOOL is a private, bilingual, coeducational
school founded in 2002 and situated in a semi-rural area in
the north of Bogota, Colombia. The school is dedicated to
offering an international curriculum in English and Spanish to
students from 3 to 18 years old, emphasizing social and global
awareness.
Since its foundation in 2002 the school has become an
authorized IB World School for the IB Primary Years
Programme (2006) and Diploma Programme (2007) and is a
candidate school for the Middle Years Programme (November
2011). The school complies also with the requirements of the
Colombian Ministry of Education and is accredited by the
excellence program EFQM (European Foundation for Quality
Management).
The school’s staff is highly trained in the IB curriculum and
we are committed to maintaining an optimum level of
preparation for the IB programmes by regular attendance at
workshops in Colombia, other Latin American countries and
the USA. Several members of our staff, including the Director
General, the DP and PYP coordinators, have been trained
directly by the IB to lead workshops, and participate on a
regular basis in consultation and approval visits to interested
schools in the region. Three of our staff are also IB examiners
for the Diploma Programme. The school is an active member
of the local association of IB schools, AACBI, and regularly
hosts activities organized by the association for IB school in
Colombia.
The strong academic curriculum is balanced by
opportunities for participation in cultural events such as
Christmas programs, music festivals and drama festivals.
Sports activities include exchanges with other schools through
our membership of the local Association of Bilingual Schools
(ACB). All our secondary school students participate in the
school’s Model United Nations and are frequently invited to
attend other schools’ models due to their proven expertise in
this activity.
Social awareness is developed throughout the primary,
middle and high school sections as an integral part of the
curriculum.
The size of the school population has allowed the successful
development of the IB community profile at all age levels, and
a positive school spirit with an atmosphere of curiosity,
creativity and respect can be perceived within the school
community.
