Utahloy is an <strong>IB</strong> <strong>World</strong> School and member of the Council of<br />

International Schools. Located on the edge of beautiful<br />

Golden Lake, surrounded by forested hillsides, Utahloy is only<br />

20 minutes from Guangzhou’s CBD. The school offers an <strong>IB</strong> K-<br />

12 education for over 800 expatriate students who represent<br />

over 50 nationalities. Facilities include a state-of-the-art<br />

canteen, a well-resourced multimedia library, technology<br />

infused classrooms, science laboratories, design<br />

technology/art rooms, music suites, covered basketball courts<br />

and football fields.<br />

Academic<br />

Utahloy has been providing a rigorous academic<br />

programme for the international community since 1998. It is<br />

authorised to provide the <strong>IB</strong> Primary Years, Middle Years and<br />

Diploma Programmes. Academic rigour is assured due to the<br />

high calibre of international teachers employed. Utahloy<br />

students perform well in <strong>IB</strong> diploma examinations and gain<br />

entry to leading universities around the world, including the<br />

USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea.<br />

The <strong>IB</strong> diploma average is above the world average.<br />

Mother tongue languages<br />

Mother tongue languages are sustained and developed<br />

within the curriculum. Students develop an academic<br />

vocabulary, expand their language usage, and study literature<br />

offered to mother tongue speakers include: Chinese, Finnish,<br />

French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.<br />

Global Citizens<br />

The host country language and culture is studied through<br />

specialist Chinese language classes, integrated units of work<br />

in the classroom, and field trips in the region. Students<br />

participate in a full range of extracurricular activities and<br />

sporting events. Global citizenship is developed through:<br />

community service projects; environmental sustainability<br />

activities; Model United Nations participation; and through<br />

our emphasis on multilingual communication. We are proud<br />
