Peebles Elementary School is a public Title One school located
next to Fort Hood, the largest army post in the world. Peebles
became an IB World School in July 2006, authorized to offer
the PYP. 700 students and 100 staff members from multiple
countries attend Peebles. Peebles is a part of an IB continuum
in the Killeen Independent School District. Killeen is located
in Central Texas about one hour north of Austin. Peebles is a
bilingual campus. Approximately one-third of Peebles
students claim Spanish as their native language. Action is an
integral part of Peebles. Students, parents, and staff members
are consistently involved in action to foster our connections
with our adopt-a-school units, parents, and communities
(local, state, national, and international). Peebles has seven
IB trainers/consultants on staff and hosts numerous visitors
curious about the IBPYP each year. Peebles shines with

highlights all components of the PYP.
Peebles has worked consistently to improve its technology
and library facilities. Our 50 year old building houses highly
qualified teachers and paraprofessionals who consistently
strive to integrate the required state curriculum with the
IBPYP.
Students from Peebles were members of the PYP combined
school choir that performed at the recent Annual Regional
Conference in San Antonio in July of 2011. Kites were also
made by our fourth and fifth grade students that were
suspended from the ceiling at the conference. Two of those
kites are now on display in the IB Americas offices in
Bethesda, Maryland.
Peebles Elementary School’s desire is to inspire our students
to be internationally minded and globally aware so that they
are prepared for their places in the world.
