Our Mission Statement
MEF International School (MEFIS) offers a stimulating
education programme that strives to meet the individual
learning needs of its students. By providing equal
opportunities, the school ensures that each child is guided to
discovering and developing their intellectual, creative, social
and physical potentials.
In doing so, the school seeks to empower its students with a
lifelong passion for learning. Students are encouraged to
become confident, balanced and socially responsible individuals

Our School
MEFIS, founded in 1998 as a private coeducational
institution for the expatriate community in Istanbul, is
accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and
New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
MEFIS, from its early childhood center and its fully authorized
IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) in the primary school to its
IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) in the secondary school, is
structured to provide quality education to students from ages
3 to 18. MEFIS is a fully authorized Cambridge International
Examinations Centre (CIE), offering Cambridge Secondary 1
with Checkpoint exams and IGCSE in the secondary school in

The school’s focus is to have students construct meaning and
become enthusiastic learners that inquire. The school
provides a first class English-medium international
education, complemented throughout the school by French,
Spanish and Turkish host country studies. The learning
support team provides individual and small-group support to
students through English language learning (ELL), learning
support, enrichment/extension, guidance counseling and
college counseling.
Our Students
As part of the Turkish Ministry of Education requirements,
all enrolled students at MEFIS hold a passport other than
Turkish. However, our IB Diploma Programme accommodates
international and some Turkish national students. In all, the
MEFIS student body contains 48 different nationalities. MEFIS
understands that through a holistic approach to teaching and
learning our students will possess intercultural and selfawareness,
optimism, and organizational skills.
Community and Service: Throughout the school students
participate in charity events, including food drives, clothes
drives, and fundraising activities. Secondary school students
(grade 6-12) have an active role in helping the community by
attending local amenities.
Model European Parliament and Model United Nations:
MEFIS high school students have the opportunity to join
