The School
The EF International Academy campus is situated in the
heart of Torbay, a popular tourist destination on England’s
scenic south-west coast. London, Oxford and Stonehenge are
a train-ride away. The school is housed in a fully modernised
historic building, which provides a safe, comfortable learning
environment, complete with state-of-the-art science and
language labs, wireless internet, library facilities, a dining
area and lounge.
Academics
Education at EF is highly personal and a range of
internationally renowned programmes are offered to meet the
individual needs of each student; including IB and A level, as
well as IGCSE and the High School Preparation programme.
Intensive English language courses are also available. EF has a
track record of academic excellence with 45% of students
receiving A* grades at A level, compared with the national
average of 8%.
University Placements
The EF International Academy class of 2011 is on course for
another year of success. Our students have been accepted
onto courses that are deemed to be the best in the country for
their subject, such as medicine at the University of Leicester
and mathematics at the University of Oxford. 36% of our
students have been admitted into one of the top ten UK
universities for their chosen subject.
Pastoral Care
Personal tutors provide one-to-one individualised support
and guidance. Each student is assigned a personal tutor
whose role is to monitor the student’s academic progress,
university applications and general welfare. Students are
encouraged to nurture their talents and develop new skills and
confidence.
Scholarships
Scholarships will be awarded to highly talented and
ambitious students who can make a positive contribution to
the school community. Two students are awarded Founder’s
scholarships, which will cover 50% of total fees. Many other
general scholarships are also available for students who
demonstrate overall excellence.
Residential Life
Students stay with host families and benefit from full
immersion into British culture and language. Host families
are rigorously vetted and many have years of experience in
offering a safe, supportive home away from home to EF Torbay
students.
