Parkside Sixth offers an international education in the
heart of Cambridge, flexible and personalised courses,
along with excellent facilities, teaching and partnerships.
We have our own, beautiful, sixth form base, the Eden
Centre. This contains social areas, a study room, tutorial
rooms and teaching spaces, as well as a student kitchen.
Separate from the main school site, it is in easy walking
distance of all the amenities of the city of Cambridge,
including libraries, museums, theatres and cafes. Students
also have access to a well-stocked library and the very best
electronic resources. They will also make use of purposebuilt
science labs and a brand-new performing arts centre,
with an auditorium, a drama studio, music rooms, art
rooms, and a media suite.
Because the sixth form is separate from the main school,
sixth-formers study in an adult atmosphere, where they are
encouraged to act as students, not school pupils, and where
they are encouraged to take responsibility for their own
learning. However, our links to the lower school mean that
sixth-formers have a wide range of leadership opportunities
with the younger students.
We pride ourselves on high quality teaching and learning,
and our school is rated ‘outstanding’ by the Ofsted school
inspectorate. Staff use a range of techniques to support the
students and to ensure that learning is always active,
challenging and exciting.
As a smaller centre, all students get to know each other and
the staff team quickly. We have excellent pastoral care, with all
students being assigned a learning mentor. The learning
mentor is responsible for a small group of students, guiding
them through their studies and watching out for their welfare.
Students will benefit from high quality advice for careers and
university entrance, as well as academic support throughout
their studies.
