4. <strong>IB</strong> Associations Around the <strong>World</strong><br />

Informal groupings of <strong>IB</strong> <strong>World</strong> Schools<br />

The <strong>IB</strong> does not formally recognize all groups of <strong>IB</strong> <strong>World</strong> Schools. A group must have first formed itself<br />

into a formal or legal entity to meet the recognition criteria. There are, nevertheless, informal networks<br />

of schools in various parts of the world, most notably in the Asia Pacific region, that make valuable<br />

contributions to supporting schools in their programme development. Their scope and activities vary<br />

from group to group and each operates independently of the <strong>IB</strong> regional office, which offers them its<br />

own support.<br />
