The American School of Bombay (ASB) was founded as an
independent, coeducational day school in 1981. The school
offers an educational program from early childhood through
grade 12 for 700 students representing over 40 nationalities. ASB
serves the international and expatriate community of Mumbai
and is recognized with full accreditation from the Middle States
Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, and The
Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation.
ASB has been an IB World School since 1998 and is authorized to
offer both the Primary Years and Diploma Programmes. While
focusing on the development of the whole child, the school
offers a college preparatory curriculum that awards graduates an
American high school diploma and/or the IB diploma.
ASB challenges students to become lifelong learners;
pursuing their dreams while being caring and sensitive to the
needs of others. ASB is a school that believes mutual trust and
respect are essential for healthy, enduring relationships and to
that end promotes international mindedness on the parts of
adults and students in the school community. Our school
houses families and students from diverse cultures and
perspectives and is committed to international understanding
and responsible citizenship.

collaboration and interpersonal skills. They are encouraged to
be aware of their personal, social and civic responsibility
towards themselves and others and this is emphasized
through our well-established Community and Social
Responsibility (CSR) and CAS programs. The school’s
curriculum is enhanced with a widely-recognized one-to-one
laptop program for all students in grades 3 through 12
focusing on technological fluency from the earliest years.
ASB’s well-equipped campus – both academically and
recreationally – offers a number of extracurricular learning
opportunities including a comprehensive after-school activities
program. ASB is a member of the South Asia Inter-School
Association athletic conference, which provides student athletes
the opportunity to compete in sports with other international
schools. Students also participate in Model United Nations,
International Schools Theatre Association, and international
choral and instrumental concerts. In addition, all middle and
high school students participate in a Week Without Walls
program that is directly linked with the curriculum.
ASB graduates have been accepted at the world’s finest
colleges and universities, including Massachusetts Institute of
Technology, Harvard University, Boston University, Columbia
University, John Hopkins University, Princeton University,
Stanford University, University College London, Leeds
University, The University of Sydney, and University of Paris
and have gone on to contribute personally and professionally
across a diversity of fields.
