Founded in 1847 as an Anglican school, St Peter’s College has
a worldwide reputation and numbers among its old scholars;
three Nobel Prize winners, 42 Rhodes Scholars, a Pulitzer Prize
winner, seven Premiers of South Australia, two winners of the
Victoria Cross and Australia’s only astronaut.
The school’s Christian ethos is reflected in its motto Pro Deo
et Patria (For God and Country) as is the importance of service
to the community.
As a boys-only school, Saints provides the highest quality
education to more than 1350 day students and boarders from
its early learning centre to Year 12 and specialises distinctively
in boys’ learning and development.
St Peter’s College believes in a holistic approach to education
– to educate minds, build healthy bodies and nourish spirits,
believing that boys who are supported in this way grow to
become great men – who are instinctively good and gentle.
A primary aim of the school is to provide growing boys with
guidance and support in an environment where they can feel
confident to be themselves, to take risks and to make mistakes
without embarrassment whilst focusing on their studies.
With its open enrolment policy, St Peter’s College
consistently achieves some of the best academic results in
South Australia, through strategies designed to ensure that
each Year 12 student achieves his best.
It offers both the South Australian Certificate of Education
and in Years 11 and 12 the International Baccalaureate
Diploma Programme.
St Peter’s College has been teaching the diploma since
1998. Since that time about 350 boys have gained their
diploma and no student has failed. The average score is
around 37 points. The school offers English and Chinese A1,
five group 2 languages including an ab initio, four subjects in
group 3, three sciences and all four mathematics courses. In
group 6 visual arts, theatre and music are offered.
The school also owns an outdoor education property on the
banks of the Finniss River on the Fleurieu Peninsula, where an
exciting program of co-curricular activities promotes
teamwork, self- reliance and leadership.
