A kindergarten to Year 12 school, Ravenswood provides a
challenging and diverse curriculum that ensures girls have the
opportunity to grow and develop in core areas, while at the
same time pursuing individual interests.
Ravenswood follows the NSW Board of Studies curriculum
as its learning framework from kindergarten through to Year
10. The core curriculum includes English, mathematics,
science, geography, history, physical education and health,
and religious education. All students from kindergarten to
Year 9 study at least one language other than English and may
opt to pursue their language studies in the senior years.
In addition to core studies, girls experience music, French,
visual arts, speech, information technology and information
resources. Their learning also encompasses thinking, reading,
writing, sport, creative arts and play.
The specialised Learning Enrichment Department at
Ravenswood supports girls across the school, ranging from
those who are gifted or talented through to those who have
special needs.
A uniquely tailored middle school programme recognises
the different learning needs of girls in the early stage of
adolescence. The programme is structured to include
experiential learning to enhance the skills and knowledge
required for girls to move into their senior school years.
In Year 7 all girls study a core curriculum plus music, two
languages, drama, visual arts and technology and applied
studies. As girls progress through Years 7 to 10 their study
choices increase as they choose subjects of interest to them.
A Senior Residential College offers boarding to girls from
Year 10, with full, weekly and short stay boarding options
available. In Years 11 and 12, girls are offered a choice of study
paths: the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
Programme or the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC). This
choice and flexibility allows girls to tailor their studies to their
own interests, skills and needs. It also encourages them to be
independent and to take responsibility for the development of
their future path, be it through further study or in life generally.
Ravenswood girls consistently achieve successful results in
both the Higher School Certificate and the IB Diploma
Programme with 50% scoring in the top 10% of the state.
Offering a curriculum filled with choices, opportunities and
challenges, Ravenswood encourages girls to engage in the
learning process and to develop a lifelong love of learning.
Within a supportive environment, the emphasis during the
girls’ study years is on critical thinking, problem solving and
study techniques.
