Vowel-End Nouns in the Lower Bal and Lentekhian Dialects of Svan
S u m m a r y
Among the Svan dialects Lower Bal dialect is distinguished by the abundance
of sub-dialects. The followings are distinguished: Becho, Tskhumarian, Etserian,
Parulian, Chubekhian, Lakhamian, and Tshuberian sub-dialects.
Sub-dialectal differences are evidenced at the vowel-ending nouns from the
standpoint of distributing of genitive case alomorphs, as well.
In the Lentekhian dialect available sub-dialectal differences are not observed
and at vovuel-ending nouns of all kinds - š(-iš) alomorph is basicully evidenced in a
genitive case.
