Bachelor Entwurf Wintersemester 2020/21
Vom Architekturelement zum architektonischen
Raum. Die Einführung in die Architektur folgt in
der Professur Gebäudelehre auf grundlegenden
Prinzipien. Ausgehend vom Studium der Elemente
Boden, Wand, Decke, Öffnung und Treppe
werden deren spezifische Eigenschaften erforscht.
Von der Idee bis zum Maßstab 1:1 werden
diese Elemente im Innenhof unserer Fakultät
zu einem Pavillon zusammengefügt.
STADTBAD in Karlsruhe
Bachelor-Abschlussarbeit Sommersemester 2020
Mit der Thematik der Bachelor-Abschlussarbeit
im Sommersemester 2020 widmen wir uns dem
Typus des Stadtbades mit der Fragestellung,
welche Rolle das Bad im 21. Jahrhundert für die
Stadt und ihre Bewohner übernimmt. Der Niedergang
der antiken und mittelalterlichen Badekultur
im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert führte unter
anderem mit zu den hygienischen Missständen in
Europas Städten. Unter dem Einfluss der Aufklärung
entwickelten liberale Reformer, Mediziner
und auch Stadtplaner im Verlauf des 19. Jahrhunderts
die Grundlagen für eine moderne zivilisatorische
Entwicklung der Gesellschaft. Um den
Bewohnern der Stadt den Zugang zu regelmäßiger
Körperpflege zu geben, entstanden zu dieser
Zeit die Stadtbäder. Als öffentlicher Bau etablierte
sich das Stadtbad zum Statussymbol für Wohlstand
und Fortschritt. Zudem möchten wir die
Bedeutung des Bades als Verknüpfung sozialer
und kultureller Anliegen hervorheben.

From architectural element to architectural
space. The introduction to architecture is done
in a basic way in the Department of Building Typology.
Starting from the study of the elements
floor, wall, ceiling, opening and staircase, their
specific characteristics are learned. From the
idea to the scale of 1:1, these are assembled into
a pavilion in the courtyard of our faculty.
THERMAL BATHS in Karlsruhe
With this summer semester‘s final Bachelor Degree
design project we turn our attention to the
building type of thermal baths. What different roles
does this type play in the 21st century in the
lives of its visitors and for the city? After the decline
of the ancient bathing culture, there were
many hygienic grievances in European cities. Under
the influence of the Enlightenment, liberal reformers,
physicians and urban planners developed
the basis for a modern civil development in
society in the course of the 19th century. In order
to give the residents of the city access to regular
personal hygiene, the city baths were built at this
time. As a public building, the Stadtbad established
itself as a status symbol for prosperity and
progress. We would also like to emphasize the
importance of the bathroom as a link between
social and cultural issues.
