Der Solar Decathlon ist ein technisch-interdisziplinärer
und architektonischer Wettbewerb, bei
dem studentische Teams aus der ganzen Welt in
einer Art Zehnkampf gegeneinander antreten.
Gefördert vom Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft
und Energie (BMWi), kommt mit dem Solar
Decathlon Europe 2021 der Hochschulwettbewerb
erstmals nach Deutschland und richtet
den Fokus auf nachhaltiges Bauen und Leben in
der Stadt. Ziel des SDE21 ist es, innovative, technische,
architektonische und soziale Lösungen
für die europäischen Städte von morgen zu entwickeln
und damit einen Beitrag zur Klimaneutralität
2050 zu leisten.
Das Team RoofKIT ist eines der 18 Teams,
die sich im Vorfeld für den Wettbewerb qualifiziert
hat. Unter der Federführung von Prof. Dirk
Hebel (Professur Nachhaltiges Bauen) und Prof.
Andreas Wagner (Professur Bauphysik & Technischer
Ausbau) entwickelt das Team wegweisende,
innovative und architektonisch anspruchsvolle
Lösungen für eine nachhaltige
Entwicklung unserer gebauten Umwelt. Bauaufgabe
bildet Sanierung und Aufstockung eines
bestehenden Gebäudes. Eine besondere Rolle
spielen dabei die solare Energieversorgung, deren
architektonische Integration sowie das
Sicherstellen der Kreislauffähigkeit durch sortenreine
Konstruktionen und Materialien aus der
urbanen Mine.
Das Motto: design – build – operate. Das
bedeutet, dass die Teams ihren Entwurf 1:1 bauen
und final im Juni 2022 in Wuppertal einer
breiten Öffentlichkeit im Rahmen eines Events
präsentieren werden. Eine hochkarätige Jury bewertet
das Projekt und vergibt für die zehn Disziplinen
Punkte, der Punktesieger gewinnt.

Team RoofKIT
The Solar Decathlon is a technical, interdisciplinary
and architectural competition in which student
teams from all over the world compete in
ten disciplines, similar to an Olympic decathlon.
Funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic
Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the Solar Decathlon
Europe 2021 hosts in Germany for the
first time and focuses on sustainable building
and living in the city. The aim of SDE21 is to develop
innovative, technical, architectural and social
solutions for the European cities of tomorrow
and thus contribute to climate neutrality in 2050.
Team RoofKIT is one of 18 teams that qualified
for the competition in advance. Under the
leadership of Prof. Dirk Hebel (Chair of Sustainable
Construction) and Prof. Andreas Wagner
(Chair of Building Physics & Technical Building
Services), the team is developing groundbreaking,
innovative and architecturally sophisticated
solutions for the sustainable development of our
built environment. The building task is the renovation
and addition of storeys on an existing
building. Special attention is paid to the solar energy
supply and its architectural integration, ensuring
closed loops through sorted constructions
and materials from the urban mine.
The motto: design – build – operate. This
means that the teams will build their project 1:1
and present it to the general public at an event in
June 2022 in Wuppertal. A top-class jury will
evaluate the project and award points for the ten
disciplines, the team with the most gained points
wins the competition.
