204 COMITE MARITIME INTERNATIONALThe Travaux Préparatoires of <strong>the</strong> Hague and Hague-Visby Rulesof <strong>the</strong> carrier shall on demand issue to <strong>the</strong> shipper a bill of lading showing amongst o<strong>the</strong>rthings:(a) The leading marks necessary for identification of <strong>the</strong> goods as <strong>the</strong> same are furnishedin writing by <strong>the</strong> shipper before <strong>the</strong> loading OF SUCH GOODS starts, provided suchmarks are stamped or o<strong>the</strong>rwise shown clearly upon <strong>the</strong> goods if uncovered, or on <strong>the</strong> casesor coverings in which such goods are contained, in such a manner as SHOULD ORDI-NARILY remain legible until <strong>the</strong> end of <strong>the</strong> voyage;Text adopted by <strong>the</strong> Conference(CMI Bulletin No. 65 - Go<strong>the</strong>nborg Conference)[376]3.
