GENERAL DUTY VALVES FOR PLUMBING PIPING
A. This Section describes general requirements for valves common to most plumbing piping
systems which are specified elsewhere in Division 22.
1.02 SUBMITTALS:
A. Submit the following Product Data for all valves under provisions of Section 01300: Body
material, valve design, pressure and temperature classification, end connection details,
seating materials, trim material and arrangement, dimensions and required clearances,
and installation instructions.
B. Submit operating instructions and maintenance requirements for all valves.
1.03 STANDARDS:
A. All valves shall conform to applicable portions of the following standards and as required
by the appropriate national and local codes.
American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
American Welding Society (AWS)
American Water Works Association (AWWA)
Canadian Standards Association (CSA)
Commercial Standards, National Bureau of Standards (CS)
Compressed Gas Association (CGA)
Copper Development Association (CDA)
Federal Specifications (FS)
Manufacturers Standardization Society (MSS)
B. Solenoid valves shall be UL listed, FM/AGA/ANSI and CSA approved.
1.04 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING:
A. Prepare valves for shipping as follows:
1. Ensure valves are dry and internally protected against rusting and galvanic
corrosion.
2. Protect valve ends against mechanical damage to threads, flange faces, and weld
end preps.
3. Set valves in best position for handling. Globe and gate valves shall be closed to
prevent rattling; ball and plug valves shall be open to minimize exposure of
