PLUMBING PUMPS
A. Plumbing pump types and capacities are as indicated on the drawings and schedules, and
by requirements of this Section.
B. Types of pumps specified in this Section include the following:
1. In-Line Circulation Pumps.
2. Water Pressure Booster Systems.
3. Pedestal Type Sump Pumps.
4. Submersible Sump Pumps.
C. Pumps furnished as part of factory-fabricated equipment are specified as part of
equipment assembly in other Division 22 sections.
D. Refer to other Division 22 sections for insulation of pump housings and vibration control of
plumbing pumps.
E. Provide the following electrical work as work of this Section, complying with requirements
of Division 26 sections:
1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE:
1. Control wiring between field-installed controls, indicating devices, and pump
control panels.
A. Manufacturer's Qualifications: Firms regularly engaged in manufacture of plumbing
pumps with characteristics, sizes, and capacities required, whose products have been in
satisfactory use in similar service for not less than 5 years.
B. Codes and Standards:
1. HI Compliance: Design, manufacture, and installation of plumbing pumps shall
be in accordance with HI (Hydraulic Institute) standards.
2. UL Compliance: Design, manufacture, and installation of plumbing pumps shall
be in accordance with UL 778, "Motor Operated Water Pumps."
3. UL and NEMA Compliance: Provide pumps with electric motors and components
which are listed and labeled by Underwriters Laboratories and comply with NEMA
standards.
4. SSPMA Compliance: Testing and rating of sump and sewage pumps shall be in
accordance with Sump and Sewage Pump Manufacturers Association (SSPMA)
standards. Pumps shall be provided with certified rating seal.
5. National Electrical Code (NEC).
6. American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).
