HYDRONIC PIPING
A. This Section specifies piping materials, testing and installation methods common to
Division 23 and includes joining materials, piping specialties, and basic piping installation
instructions.
B. Related Sections: Refer to other Division 23 sections for fire protection systems, piping
specialties, valves, expansion compensation, supports and anchors, mechanical
identification, mechanical insulation, meters and gauges, and fire barrier penetration
seals.
C. Standards: Piping materials and installation methods shall meet the requirements of the
applicable sections of the latest standards of the following organizations listed below:
Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI)
American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
American Welding Society (AWS)
American Water Works Association (AWWA)
Cast Iron Soil Pipe Institute (CISPI)
Commercial Standards, National Bureau of Standards (CS)
Compressed Gas Association (CGA)
Copper Development Association (CDA)
Federal Specifications (FS)
Manufacturers Standardization Society (MSS)
National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau (NCPWB)
Plastic Pipe Institute (PPI)
Plumbing and Drainage Institute (PDI)
D. All piping shall conform to applicable portions of the above standards and as required by
the appropriate national and local codes.
1.02 SUBMITTALS:
A. Refer to Division 1 and Basic Mechanical Requirements for administrative and procedural
requirements for submittals.
B. Product Data: Submit industry standard and manufacturer’s technical product data,
installation instructions, and dimensioned drawings for each type of pipe and pipe fitting.
C. Submit piping schedule showing pipe or tube weight, fitting type, and joint type for each
piping system.
D. Submit Welder’s certifications.
