Dear Dr. Hurd and Gentlemen:
Reference is made to my recent
communication requesting an appropriation of fifteen thou-
"sand dollars (§15,000.00) to construct a cemetery for the
d'e'c'eas'e'd' veterans of World Jdfar II on city owned property
on Broadway*
I desire to withdraw said communication substi-
Jtuting, tfierefore, a request that your Honorable Board/
appropriate the sum of twenty-six thousand dollars,
'('£'26,000*00) to the Engineering Department, Parks and Play_grounds,
Special Item Account for work and materials
necessary to prepare a proper and fitting cemetery" for the
deceased veterans of World War IT on land owned by the City
of Somerville, located pn Broadway between the City Infirmary
and the Contagious Hospital.
Advised by the City Engineer that this amount of
twenty-six thousand dollars ($26,000.00) is necessary in
order to do the work. Plans and specifications which have
been prepared by the City Engineer are available for your
approval.
