Reference is made to my recent<br />

communication requesting an appropriation <strong>of</strong> fifteen thou-<br />

"sand dollars (§15,000.00) to construct a cemetery for the<br />

d'e'c'eas'e'd' veterans <strong>of</strong> World Jdfar II on city owned property<br />

on Broadway*<br />

I desire to withdraw said communication substi-<br />

Jtuting, tfierefore, a request that your Honorable Board/<br />

appropriate the sum <strong>of</strong> twenty-six thousand dollars,<br />

'('£'26,000*00) to the Engineering Department, Parks and Play_grounds,<br />

Special Item Account for work and materials<br />

necessary to prepare a proper and fitting cemetery" for the<br />

deceased veterans <strong>of</strong> World War IT on land owned by the <strong>City</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong>, located pn Broadway between the <strong>City</strong> Infirmary<br />

and the Contagious Hospital.<br />

Advised by the <strong>City</strong> Engineer that this amount <strong>of</strong><br />

twenty-six thousand dollars ($26,000.00) is necessary in<br />

order to do the work. Plans and specifications which have<br />

been prepared by the <strong>City</strong> Engineer are available for your<br />

approval.<br />
