Dear Dr. Hurd and Gentlemen:<br />

March 16, 1948.<br />

Enclosed please find a copy <strong>of</strong><br />

Chapter 12 <strong>of</strong> the Building Code,_a which was passed by your<br />

Honorable Board in 1946 and this particular chapter in 1947.<br />

The various conditions set forth in this chapter<br />

are, according to your approval, the rules under which the<br />

Mayor, the Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen, the <strong>City</strong> Clerk, Engineering<br />

Department and the Building Department should issue the<br />

various licenses for the erection, repair and maintenance<br />

<strong>of</strong> these signs.<br />

In order to follow out the rules contained therein<br />

it is the_v/riters opinion that'it will.be necessary for you<br />

to <strong>of</strong>ficially notify the various departments who, conduct<br />

£n"e~ricensjjigj3f_said j3 igns~,jln the ' matter j^ontained therein.<br />

The code will be published in about two weeks and a<br />

copy-.o.f it may be given to each department effected. Therefore<br />

> will you please take action at your earliest convenience<br />
