The President, Alderman Mallard, presiding.<br />

Aldermen Ryan, McCarthy, Reynolds, Stackpole, Hall,<br />

Butler, Capuano, Whitney and Vice-president Brady present,<br />

Reading <strong>of</strong> records commenced; further reading dispensed<br />

with under a suspension <strong>of</strong> the rules and records<br />

approved by yea and nay vote, Aldermen Ryan, Reynolds,<br />

Stackpole, Hall, Butler, Capuano, Whitney, Vice-president<br />

Brady and the President, 9, voting in the affirmative;<br />

Alderman McCarthy, 1, being absent at this stage <strong>of</strong> the<br />

meeting.<br />

HEARING<br />

Due notice <strong>of</strong> the hearing having been given by the<br />

<strong>City</strong> Clerk in the manner provided by law and provided by<br />

ordinance, hearing was given for all persons desiring to be<br />

heard on the following:<br />

Boston Edison Co. and New England Telephone and Tele- 74986<br />

" " gra_ph Co. for joint pole location -<br />

V/est" Quincy St. - 4 poles.<br />

In the matter <strong>of</strong> the petition <strong>of</strong> the Boston<br />

Edison Co. and New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. for<br />

joint pole location, West Quincy St., 4 poles, Mr. Ralph<br />

Young, representing the Boston Edison Co., appeared in<br />

favor.<br />

No other persons interested, appearing and desiring<br />

to be heard, the hearings were closed.<br />

Gentlemen;<br />

June 7, 1948<br />

I respectfully request the approval <strong>of</strong> your.<br />

Honorable Board to the transfer <strong>of</strong> §383.34 from Excess and<br />

Deficiency to <strong>City</strong> Engineer, Personal Service Account to<br />

cover the salary <strong>of</strong> Peter W. Garibotto, at the rate <strong>of</strong><br />

$40.00 per week, effective April 16, 1948.<br />

employee has been employed as a veteran<br />

trainee in the Engineering Department for over a year and<br />

has qualified for appointment as a permanent Grade II engineer,<br />

it will therefore, be necessary to secure this<br />

transfer in order to keep this veteran employed. Mr0 Gari<br />

bo£to is efficient, qualified and does good work and is<br />

necessary to parry on in the Engineering Department.<br />
