The untimely death of 75^52
JUDGE ARTHUR D > HEALEE
of the
UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT
has deprived the people of the Boston District of an able
Jurist, and
Whereas:
Judge Healey, a native of our City
distinguished himself In his Judicial duties since his appoint
in 194-1 by our late President, Franklin D. Roosevelt,
and previously as our Representative in the Congress of
the United States by the vigorous and stimulating presentation
of his' ideas of progressive legislation, and
Whereas:
His contributions to the larger affairs
of our Nation during his four terms In the Congress
through his membership on the important Judiciary and
Un-American Activities properly qualified him to his deserved
elevation as Justice of the United States Court,
and
Whereas:
Judge Healey, who had served as Infantry
Lieutenant in our Armed Forces during World War 1,
later brouriit credit to our City througi his high services
in the organization of the American Legion, therefore,
tie it
Resolved:
That wefl the members of the Board
of Aldermen, deeply cognizant of our City's loss in the
passing of such a distinguished citizen, cause to be
Inscribed upon the records of our deliberations, as
representatives of the people of our City, this expression
of our respect and esteem, to the memory of his services
to the City, State and Nation, and be it further
Resolved;
That a copy of these resolutions be
transmitted to the family of the late Justice Arthur D.
Healey, with the assurance of our deepest sympathy and
prayer that our Heavenly Father will console them In
their present sorrow, and with the hope also that our
words of appreciation of his magnificent services and
our high regard may be a solace to them in years to come*
