The untimely death <strong>of</strong> 75^52<br />

JUDGE ARTHUR D > HEALEE<br />

<strong>of</strong> the<br />

UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT<br />

has deprived the people <strong>of</strong> the Boston District <strong>of</strong> an able<br />

Jurist, and<br />

Whereas:<br />

Judge Healey, a native <strong>of</strong> our <strong>City</strong><br />

distinguished himself In his Judicial duties since his appoint<br />

in 194-1 by our late President, Franklin D. Roosevelt,<br />

and previously as our Representative in the Congress <strong>of</strong><br />

the United States by the vigorous and stimulating presentation<br />

<strong>of</strong> his' ideas <strong>of</strong> progressive legislation, and<br />

Whereas:<br />

His contributions to the larger affairs<br />

<strong>of</strong> our Nation during his four terms In the Congress<br />

through his membership on the important Judiciary and<br />

Un-American Activities properly qualified him to his deserved<br />

elevation as Justice <strong>of</strong> the United States Court,<br />

and<br />

Whereas:<br />

Judge Healey, who had served as Infantry<br />

Lieutenant in our Armed Forces during World War 1,<br />

later brouriit credit to our <strong>City</strong> througi his high services<br />

in the organization <strong>of</strong> the American Legion, therefore,<br />

tie it<br />

Resolved:<br />

That wefl the members <strong>of</strong> the Board<br />

<strong>of</strong> Aldermen, deeply cognizant <strong>of</strong> our <strong>City</strong>'s loss in the<br />

passing <strong>of</strong> such a distinguished citizen, cause to be<br />

Inscribed upon the records <strong>of</strong> our deliberations, as<br />

representatives <strong>of</strong> the people <strong>of</strong> our <strong>City</strong>, this expression<br />

<strong>of</strong> our respect and esteem, to the memory <strong>of</strong> his services<br />

to the <strong>City</strong>, State and Nation, and be it further<br />

Resolved;<br />

That a copy <strong>of</strong> these resolutions be<br />

transmitted to the family <strong>of</strong> the late Justice Arthur D.<br />

Healey, with the assurance <strong>of</strong> our deepest sympathy and<br />

prayer that our Heavenly Father will console them In<br />

their present sorrow, and with the hope also that our<br />

words <strong>of</strong> appreciation <strong>of</strong> his magnificent services and<br />

our high regard may be a solace to them in years to come*<br />
