chase of additional trucks for the Sanitary Department,
to carry on the work of that department, and to do away
withjthe necessity of hiring outside trucks.. This pro-
cedure to be In line with the lowering of expenditures
necessary to run this department.

That all open holes in the Carr
School Yard property be filled in with Hot-top and all
uneven areas resurfaced wherever needed in order to safe-
guard the children attending the School and using the
yard for recreational play and between school sessions.

Whereas: It has been brought to our notice 75661
through the columns of the Preas of the commendable action
during the past week of PATROLMAN GARNET L. REID,'
whereby alertness was displayed by him, after responding
to_the frantic call for assistance from Mrs- Margaret
Connolly, who had found her six weeks old baby "Janice"
1'n a 'strangling condition upon her return home fro'm the
store, and
Whereas: Patrolman Reid exhibited such
quick-thinking in applying First-Aid resuscitation raeasures
by breathing into little Janice's mouth thereby
restoring life to the unconscious infant,and_enabling the
Inhalator to be applied until she was pronounced out pf
danger, be it
Resolved; that we extend to him our commendations
and appreciation and the gratitude of our people
for his incalculable action in this grave emergency
which bespeaks the fine training and abilities of the
members of our Police and Fire Department^, whenever an
unfortunate emergency requires the response to the call
of duty in serving the life and safety of our people,
and be it further
Resolved: that a copy of this resolution
be forwarded to patrolman Garnet L. Reid and to the Chief
of the Department*
