chase <strong>of</strong> additional trucks for the Sanitary Department,<br />

to carry on the work <strong>of</strong> that department, and to do away<br />

withjthe necessity <strong>of</strong> hiring outside trucks.. This pro-<br />

cedure to be In line with the lowering <strong>of</strong> expenditures<br />

necessary to run this department.<br />

School Yard property be filled in with Hot-top and all<br />

uneven areas resurfaced wherever needed in order to safe-<br />

Whereas: It has been brought to our notice 75661<br />

through the columns <strong>of</strong> the Preas <strong>of</strong> the commendable action<br />

during the past week <strong>of</strong> PATROLMAN GARNET L. REID,'<br />

whereby alertness was displayed by him, after responding<br />

to_the frantic call for assistance from Mrs- Margaret<br />

Connolly, who had found her six weeks old baby "Janice"<br />

1'n a 'strangling condition upon her return home fro'm the<br />

store, and<br />

Whereas: Patrolman Reid exhibited such<br />

quick-thinking in applying First-Aid resuscitation raeasures<br />

by breathing into little Janice's mouth thereby<br />

restoring life to the unconscious infant,and_enabling the<br />

Inhalator to be applied until she was pronounced out pf<br />

danger, be it<br />

Resolved; that we extend to him our commendations<br />

and appreciation and the gratitude <strong>of</strong> our people<br />

for his incalculable action in this grave emergency<br />

which bespeaks the fine training and abilities <strong>of</strong> the<br />

members <strong>of</strong> our Police and Fire Department^, whenever an<br />

unfortunate emergency requires the response to the call<br />

<strong>of</strong> duty in serving the life and safety <strong>of</strong> our people,<br />

and be it further<br />

be forwarded to patrolman Garnet L. Reid and to the Chief<br />
