Regular meeting of the Board of
Aldermen, city Hall, Soraerville,
December 10, 19^g, 3 P.M.
The President, Alderman Mallard presiding.
Aldermen Ryan, Radochla, McCarthy, Reynolds,
Stackpole, Hall, Butler, Capuano, Whitney and Vice-Presi
dent Brady present.
Reading of records commenced; further reading
dispensed with under a suspension of the rules and
records approved by yea and nay vote, Aldermen Ryan,
McCarthy, Stackpole, Hall, Butler, Capuano, Vice-president
Brady and the President, g, votlniz in the affirmative,
Aldermen Radochia, Reynolds and Whitney, 3, being
absent at this stage of the meeting..
JURORS
Received a special venire for the drawing of
five men to serve as traverse Jurors at the Superior
Court to be holden at Cambridge, the persons so drawn
to appear and attend at the third session of said Court
on Monday, the third day of January, 19^9, at 10 A.M.
The box containing the names being shaken and
the slips or ballots bearing the names being mixed, Aldermen
Stackpole and Hall being designated for that purpose,
drew from the box and read aloud names as follows:

2, Ralph V, WUley 123 Pearl St. Electrician
Robert Lewis Goodwin log Albion St» Operator

The slips or ballots bearing the names were
passed by the Aldermen to the President, who verified
the names and passed them to the City Clerk, who also
verified the names by reading them aloud from said slips
or ballots, which were then duly endorsed and returned
to.the Jury box.

I am naturally concerned aboutnmeeting all
financial obligations of this "current year, and I believe
that most of you gentlemen are acquainted with
the needs of the various departments*
Almost all of you realize that these departments
have operated on a reduced budget, cuts in which
were made for the obvious reason of holding down costs
for 19^3. We have accumulated funds in various depart
ments which account for many financial transactions by
your Board tonight.
I know that you will look Into each matter
thoroughly and will exercise wisdpm In your final action.
The Department Heads are at your service to explain
in detail the reason for any requested transfer.
Service in all departments must be maintained
