Special meeting <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Aldermen, called by his honor<br />

the Mayor to receive and take<br />

action on communications from<br />

the Mayor and also for the<br />

drawing <strong>of</strong> a special venire <strong>of</strong><br />

jurors, all the members having<br />

been duly notified in writing,<br />

<strong>City</strong> Hall, <strong>Somerville</strong>, May 3,<br />

1948, 8 P.M.<br />

The President, Alderman Mallard, presiding.<br />

Alderman Ryan, McCarthy, Reynolds, Stackpole, Hall,<br />

Butler, Capuano and Whitney present*<br />

Reading <strong>of</strong> records commenced; further reading dispensed<br />

with under a suspension <strong>of</strong> the rules and records<br />

approved by yea and nay vote, Aldermen Ryan, Reynolds,<br />

Butler, Capuano, VJhitnay and the President, 6, voting in the<br />

affirmative; Aldermen Kurd, McCarthy, Stackpole, Hall and<br />

Vice-president Brady, 5, being absent at this stage <strong>of</strong> the<br />

meeting.<br />

JURORS<br />

Received a special venire for the drawing <strong>of</strong> five<br />

men to serve as traverse jurors at the Superior Court, now<br />

in session at Cambridge, the persons so drawn to appear and<br />

attend at the first session <strong>of</strong> said court on Monday, the<br />

tenth day <strong>of</strong> May, 1948, at 10 A. #• (Criminal business).<br />

The box containing the names being shaken and the<br />

slips or ballots bearing the names being mixed, Aldermen<br />

Ryan and Butler being designated for that purpose drew from<br />

the box and read aloud names as follows;<br />

1. Ernest M. Steward 103 Hillsdale Road Clerk<br />

2. Herbert R. Scott 15 Sterling St. Bank Teller<br />

3« Anthony F. Rose 41 Dimick St. Box Maker<br />

4, Clifton E. Willis 29 Teele Ave. Salesman<br />

5. Homer L. Starratt 196 Central St. Car Inspector<br />

The slips or ballots bearing the names were passed<br />

by the Aldermen to the President, who verified the names and<br />

passed them to the <strong>City</strong> Clerk, who also verified the names<br />

by reading them aloud from said slips or ballots, which ware<br />

then duly endorsed and returned to the jury box.<br />
