the Mayor, to receive 'and take
action on communications from
the Mayor, all the members
having been duly notified in
writing, City Hall, Somerville,

The President, Alderman Mallard, presiding.
.Aldermen Ryan, McCarthy, Reynolds, Stackpole, Hall,
Butler, Capuano, Whitney and Vice-president Brady present.
Reading of records commenced; further reading dispensed
with under a suspension of the.rules and records
approved by yea and nay-vote, Alderman Ryan, Reynolds,
Stackpole, Hall, Butler, Capuano, Whitney, Vice-president
Brady and the President, 9, voting in the affirmative;
Alderman McCarthy, 1, being absent at this stage of the
meeting.

Gentlemen;
;I attach, hereto, letter received from the United
National:Association of Post Office Clerksa Boston, Massachusetts>
signed by Lawrence F. Broderick, on behalf of the
Convention Committee. The postal clerks are making plans
to have their annual convention in the City of Boston this
summer and in an attempt to raise a sufficient amount of
money to cover convention expenses, are appealing to the
various municipalities served by the Boston Postal District.

There will be a convention booklet which will be
distributed to the more than three thousand postal clerks
attending the convention and others.
I understand that the municipalities served by
the Boston Postal district intend to subscribe for space
in the booklet advertising their own municipality. I
think that it is good business to lend our cooperation
and at tne same time inform the delegates attending the
convention that Somerville is an historic city and should
be visited by the delegates.
I am sure that we will secure plenty of advertising
arid, therefore, I hope that your Honorable Board
will approve the transfer of $150.00 from Excess and_j5eficlenoV^t
Q Executive Department, Conventions and Celebrations
to"*pay for a half-page advertisement in this convention
booklet.
