It_has come to the attention <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Somervilie .Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen]that the deficit <strong>of</strong> the .Metropolitan<br />

Transit Au-thority has and w,);ll reach an all time<br />

jrjec.pr_d high, in-ag-much as the cities and town's <strong>of</strong> metro-ipolitan<br />

Bogton are. now faced with a deficit <strong>of</strong> approxl- '<br />

mafely $6,§00,000..00 for a nine month period, and will 1 at<br />

the end <strong>of</strong> one year be approximately eight and one-half<br />

to nine million dollars, and that this is an unjustifiable<br />

and unwarranted seizure' <strong>of</strong> the taxpayers money <strong>of</strong> the citizens<br />

<strong>of</strong> gomerville, therefore be it<br />

Resolved':<br />

That tfce Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen be recorded<br />

by vote as instructing his fionor'the Mayor an'd all<br />

other <strong>City</strong> Officials to refuse to pay said deflcit/and<br />

Invite all the cities and towns in the Metropolitan District<br />

to do likewise and to declare a strike against such<br />

deficiency. *<br />

such aid is forthcoming and not to revise any salary^<br />

schedules untlT they are 'assured that such Woney is avail-<br />

able for the year 19^9. 'A copy <strong>of</strong> "this order is to be<br />

sent to! each member <strong>of</strong> the school Committee, the Secre-<br />

tary <strong>of</strong> the School' Committee, and 1 the Superintendent <strong>of</strong><br />

Schools.<br />

Amended that a copy <strong>of</strong> this order be sent to<br />

each member <strong>of</strong> the School Comm. the Sec. <strong>of</strong> the School<br />
